In the Point of View phase, you bring together your innovation objective and the user perspective. From there, you craft the core challenge that will guide your ideation. “How might we” questions are a powerful reframing tool in this step. They offer two key advantages: they distill the most relevant barriers and challenges into a single, focused sentence, and they spark creativity through active, possibility driven language.
A well formulated HMW question does not point to a specific solution. Instead, it creates the right level of openness and sets the stage for innovative thinking.
In our workshops, we work with different types of HMW questions. In our video, we explain what distinguishes obvious, ambitious and highly specific HMW questions and when to use each of them.
