With their answers to the prompted question about the desired political focus, farmers show that they see themselves at a disadvantage internationally. Half of the respondents would like to see production conditions brought into line with international standards and about a quarter demand higher government rewards for environmentally and animal-friendly management. In third place comes the desire for political influence on prices and production volumes. A further increase in production efficiency, on the other hand, is only seen by a few as a guarantee for a secure future.
