Corona makes Germans fit!
WIN study notes increased sports activities
Despite all the negative effects of the pandemic, 74 percent of Germans feel healthy in October 2020. This is an increase of 3 percent compared to the previous year and a place in the lower midfield in an international comparison.
Citizens of Indonesia (92%), South Korea (91%) and Pakistan (91%) rated themselves healthiest. The bottom three were Hong Kong (66%), Finland (65%) and Chile (61%).
There are also regional differences in Germany, with a slight north/south divide. While 71 percent in the north described their health as very good or good, the figure was 76 percent in the south.
The increased values compared to the previous year are due to the fact that many more people in Germany have been taking part in sports since the outbreak of the pandemic. With the number of smokers remaining roughly the same and the consumption of alcohol trending downward, the proportion of people who exercise regularly improved from 34 percent in 2019 to 40 percent a year later.
These are results from the WIN World Survey (WWS 2020), which asked, among other things, how healthy people in each country feel on a four-point scale.
More detailed, as well as other results, can be found in the official press release at www.winmr.com.
A total of 29,252 people from 34 different countries were surveyed. As the exclusive German WIN member, Produkt + Markt conducted the study in Germany in October 2020.
